Joy Doherty was raised in rural New Zealand where, surrounded by the beautiful and pristine countryside, she developed a strong connection to nature. Later, in the USA, her passion for plants lead to a degree in Design/ Landscape Architecture. Her career as a photographer began in 2001 when she began experimenting with digital photography. Of her work, Doherty states, "My photographic images and digital darkroom expose and explore our extraordinarily beautiful, yet often overlooked, world. They are a celebration of our Earth and a tribute to the imagination of life."
